Why fashion and theory?

In undergrad my badass literary theory and criticism professor told us that in grad school she was nicknamed “the Versace Marxist” for being strongly anti-capitalism but refusing to give up wearing designer clothes. Something about the relationship between fashion and ideology within that story kept coming back to me. What also stuck with me was the fact that an extremely intelligent and accomplished female academic could be unapologetically in love with an interest typically deemed vapid. How she could afford Versace on a grad-student budget is something I’ve yet to understand but nonetheless hope to emulate.

Do you write pieces elsewhere?

Yes I do! I just finished my MA in English with a focus in critical theory, disability studies, and medical rhetorics. I’ll be sharing upcoming academic publications and conference presentations as info becomes available.
